In addition to dinner and drinks, our date nights typically include an impromptu shoot.

This is a favorite from last night.

It’s capturing moments like these that make being a photographer such a joy. This photograph is from a recent family portrait session.  I love the emotion that lives within the image.

Simple composition, yet a very special moment captured in time.

Here’s a sneak peak from a recent shoot with Kymberly Jane at Kevin Break’s studio space in LA. I’m still editing some selects, and have a nice diversity of images from the shoot. 

I deliberately over exposed a small series of images in camera at the time of capture, and then pushed them even further in post.  This photograph is an example of the results.  I’m quite fond of the high-key look-and-feel, and wish I would have shot more this way (which matched the mood of the shoot with direct sunlight streaming into the loft-style studio).  Stay tuned for many more images to come…

It’s been a while since Baby Kai has made a blog appearance. At 10 months old this week, he’s now crawling, pulling himself up, clapping…and, of course, keeping us laughing and smiling everyday.
